Crayola makes crayons specifically for fabric...not the washable crayons but fabric crayons. She can draw and color a picture on plain paper and you can transfer it to a pillowcase,tote bag,bandanna or a fabric square for a pillow top. You simply put the picture face down on the fabric and iron according to the crayon package instructions. You both get to participate and she gets to show off her artistic side.

I am assuming you want ideas for home?
You can clean off a tin can and decorate it to make a pencil holder.
I've never met an 8 year old girl who didn't like to string beads, you can get a large bag of pony beads inexpensively at Michael's or other craft stores. You can look up patterns on the internet to make pony bead animals.
You and she should sit down at the computer together and find some interesting projects to do.

Family Weekender.com has some wonderful stuff to do. They email me with lots of stuff. It changes a lot and you can look up things by age or activity. There are crafts and food.

she can paint on rocks, those foamies come in buckets and can make cute things, christmas ornaments, little xmas gifts, scrapbooking. You can get her an inexpensive digicam for christmas etc
this is a great age to teach her to sew on the sewing maching and to cook.
