Yes. Some say that it can only work if:
-There is sexual tension that has been explored and dismissed.
-There is sexual tension that will be explored in the future.
However, this is suggesting that there will always be sexual tension between a man and a woman who have a platonic relationship.
My personal opinion is, a man and a woman can be friends without any sexual tension.
The man does not have to be gay or anything...some people just don't have that sort of chemistry between them, and it will never be there.
Even though all the hype says that you can never be friends without feeling that way, that isn't true....
I'm sure you have friends that you don't feel attracted to, only because of the simple fact that you just don't. It works on both sides, and those are the kind of relationships that are strictly platonic.
=)

Depends on the chemistry between them.
If there was once feelings between them,
i'm not quite sure they can be.
But if it was understood from the beginning that they BOTH only saw each otehr as a friend, then yes.
I've thought about this alot before,
expecially in a friendship with my best friend Dan.
It's a very questionable topic,
interesting no doubt though.

YES, YES, and oh ya, YES. Most mature people don't see people of the opposite sex and purely sex organs running around. We see them as PEOPLE. For years and years I had a guy for a best friend. We never flirted, kissed, or anything. But we had fun and hung out. Eventually I moved far away and we lost touch. Though I think my girl friends are better friends, he was fun for several years to hang out with when we were both singles (we would share dating horror stories and laugh!)

Yeah. I have tons of guy friends, but the only one that is like a real friend is the one I consider my brother. He looks out for me and makes me feel better when I'm sad. I do the same things for him too, although he's not sad often, he's a happy go lucky kind of guy. I hope that helps!

Absolutely... I should know, two of my three best friends are males. And to what someone else said, they don't have to be gay... you can be friends with someone and not have it be sexual.
