Probably because of all the money invested in the Persian Gulf by companies; they want to recoup their investment and make spectacular profits regardless of how it helps the enemies of the world. It is imperative that we create alternate sources of energy or find oil closer to home (even off the coast of California, now baned) or Alaska, because the expense of not doing so is catastrophic. We have just got to stop giving money to the Arab countries who cause so much evil in the world. More money equals more evil, and potentially total destruction of the world by those evil Islamofascists.

The Canadian deposits are in a sandy marsh inside a frozen ecosystem(shale oil). They are not in pools and caves like in Arab countries.

Currently it would cost 20x more to take out the Canadian oil and it still wouldn't be as refined as the Arab stuff.

If I'm not mistaken, that is owned by the Alberta government who have already agreed to sell to other markets such as the US. Ralph Klein has stated that the oil will be sold to the US and not to Canadians at a reduced price.

You mean shale oil? It's expensive to produce, and it's cheaper to buy it on the world market.
