I'm a DFW resident using TXU electric. I have extremely high monthly bills? For instance, my electric bill for my 1800 square foot home is $612 this month, $516 last month. Anyone with similiar sized homes please respond. And if you know your kilowatt usage please add that to your answer.

you might look in to getting a more efficient air conditioner, replacing you light bulb with the screw in florescent one I cut my electric bill by a third with them, but I don' have air conditioning. and you might look into solar panels, you can get government rebates to help pay for them

Don't you just love TXU's rate hikes. Heard there is yet another one on the way. Some news report showed that we (the state) are paying some of the highest amounts for electricity. I see a problem here.

I live in the same area with a house of about the same size.
This last month the bill is over $400 nearing $500.
Is your A/C running continuously? It would be worth getting it checked out, the gas pressure may be low which will result in excessive running and also freezing up of the A/C.

Here is an interesting website that compares the cost of living in different areas:

http://www.bestplaces.net/city/

It should give you an idea if your utility bills are average for your area.

Good luck with your search for information.
