Brand name, you pay a lot for the brand name. If you don't think so then compare an IBM computer against a computer with the same parts made by a lesser-known company.

BP, British Petroleum, is THE primary oil company for Great Britain. Shell Oil is the national Dutch oil company, and Mobil-Exxon is descended from the great Standard Oil Company. Citgo and Marathon are lesser-known brands.

Some people are very brand loyal, even though the branded product might be the same or very similar to the cheaper product. Sometimes it is worth the price, often it is not. At one grocery store I have seen the Borden's Milk truck deliver the store brand milk as well. I know that some brand name companies make a cheaper generic brand of the same product. This lets them build product loyalty while competing with those companies that make a cheaper form of the same product.

The gasoline station is full of little lies. Such as the price difference for the higher grade gas. The difference between the 3 grades is so minor that unless you have a really high performance car it isn't worth paying more for the high end product.

With government standards, regulations and quality control the difference between the gasoline sold by each station is so minor as to not be considered insignificant. Some of those additives are created by putting a pint of chemicals into a full tank of gasoline carried by a gasoline truck. The truck's movement is enough to mix the additive in with the gasoline.

Gasoline cannot be watered down like booze; the water would separate and drastically impair the performance of the vehicles that used that gas.

Most of America’s oil comes from Canada, which is unaffected by the problems in the Middle East. OPEC is rich and wants to stay so they control the price of crude oil for the major producers keeping it high and uniform. Other countries have to get their oil from OPEC and they are affected by the problems in the Middle East. This drives the price of crude oil up worldwide. If Canada didn’t charge as much as OPEC, then they other countries would buy them out leaving an oil shortage, which would cause an increase in oil prices.

The problem is that America uses more oil than any other country in the world, and the demand for oil by American and other emerging countries like China is only growing greater. This years record setting travel season is proof that Americans are willing to pay more for their oil, so the price will never drop by very much. We need to reduce our dependency on oil.

each style of gas is definitely comparable. The gas companies commerce gas and proportion uncomplicated pipelines and distribution terminals. there's no thank you to correctly known which oilfield the gas you purchase on the pump got here from or the place it grew to become into sophisticated. If there's a distribution terminal close to you you are able to watch each delivery truck interior the city, each so often interior the finished state being filled on the right comparable place. They do upload their own additive kit to the gas while it truly is positioned into the truck yet even the additive applications are certainly comparable. Any perceived variations are basically advertising hype. study the object interior the link for an training in gas.

The real reason is that the gasoline you mentioned have additives to maintain the injectors and valve runing cleaner and that's why you pay a little more per galon. Otherwise you'll have to onece in a while buy an injector cleaner and add it to your gas tank, this way it's allready there.

I preffer paying the extra penny and maintain the system clean!
GOOD LUCK!!

The lesser brands don't spend near as much on advertising trying to tell you that THEIR brand is the only brand for you. ALL if the necessary refining and additives required in various locations (GUCCI GAS) are in all fuel brands, and the purity is virtually the same, as it ALL comes from the same wells and refiners.
In fact, you can watch a SHELL tanker pull under the CHEVRON racks for loading, and vis-versa.
