I don't know if the pageants were a contributing factor in her murder. I'm sure her parents beat themselves up for having put her in pageants. I don't think little girls should be put in that position. They should be allowed to be little and just play dress-up. It's unhealthy.

Polly Klaas and Jessica Lunsford were not in pageants . Both were taken from their homes and murdered by maniacs who prey on children .Who is to say whether the killer saw JonBenet and targeted her . That's no excuse for the crime . While I don't think little girls should be promoted as sex-pots , it's not a license to harm an innocent child . The parents are not to blame because they were doing nothing illegal . She would be alive today if some monster didn't take her life . That goes for Polly Klaas & Jessica Lunsford , and all the other victims.

People who prey on children find them anywhere and everywhere. I agree with Red Rover about changing anything in a persons history. But if pageants lead to kids being murdered you'd hear many more cases like hers.

Possibly, but who knows, since we cannot predict the outcome of any ones life, but I would venture to say that if she had a more normal low key life the likelihood may have been much lower.

Yes, but that doesn't mean one was a direct cause of the other. Change anyone's history and you will change the series of events, accidental or deliberate, that would have befallen them.

Yes, and Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman would be alive if they hadn't run into O.J.
