I dont know who my wife got her advice from, but when she came home a while back and announced that she was going to dress up for me at bedtime i was quite excited. Nurses, baby doll etc , no not quite. One night she was in a bus drivers uniform, another in mechanics overalls, then to top it all dressed as a clown, im really happy to be trying new things but she wont listen to me. i cant see where its doing anything for her either, when dressed as a clown we were having sex and her spring loaded eyes kept popping out. She cant understand im not happy shagging coco the clown or any other of her weird choices.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to laugh at your problem, but your comment about her spring loaded eyes popping out just about killed me I was laughing so hard!
Now seriously, since she doesn't seem to understand why these things are not turn ons for you try adding some of your own ideas to the mix. First off, if these things are turning her on, go ahead and let her have her fun but then it's only fair that she do the same for you.
What are your fantasies? For example, if you always had a thing for Wonder Woman, go to the costume store and rent the outfit and bring it home for her. If you bring her things to wear that do turn you on, I should think she would be willing to try them.
If she refuses to try your ideas, go out and get some bizarree costume yourself. You may want to go ahead and do this anyway if her choices really bother you that much. If you dress yourself in something like Freddy Krueger, they have those costumes pretty much everywhere and nothing says 'I'm not a turn on' like Freddy, and present yourself to her like that, she will no doubt not find this sexually appealing (for your sake I hope not!) and then you can explain to her that that is how you feel about shagging a mechanic or good old coco the clown. Then maybe you can reach a mutual ground when it comes to role playing so you both can have your fun and not have to take turns. Best of Luck!
By the way, if she does find Freddy to be a turn on I would advise packing your bags and heading to the closest attorney's office. Wica meetings may be next and you really don't want to be there for those!

Compromise.
So you really don't like coco the clown. Maybe she's just trying a lot of things to find out what turns each of you on.
Get into the groove. Try some suggestions of your own - what would you like to see.
Do a little costume dressing yourself and see if she likes it. You may both find out you really don't like it.
And don't take it so seriously that you forget that sex is supposed to be good healthy fun.

suggest that you go shopping for some outfits together, or treat her to a new outfit that you would like to see her in. there are a few lingerie shops on ebay that sell sexy outfits etc and there are the usual french maids and nurses but also some more unusal ones that you both might appreciate (you for them being designed to look sexy and kinky and her for them being unusual) such as a plumber or a police officer. how about you dressing up for her?

If she insists on dressing up, go out and buy her a few outfits you would like to see her in... Go all out and buy all the various accessories for each outfit you choose. Maybe it will help show her the types of outfits you are interested in.
