I began giving my daughter baby cereal when she was between four and a half and five months old- she began to be hungry baby at this point.
You should know when the time is right, follow your instincts and if you are in any doubt, seek advice from a qualified health professional.

I have heard 4 months, 10 pounds or doubled in weight. However, I was born in 1970 and all the mothers gave cereal at very young age. I gave my sons cereal at 6 weeks old. Just a baby spoon of rice cereal in a bottle so they would sleep and be less gassy. You are the mother use your intuition and I am sure you will be fine.

If your baby is thriving and gaining weight on formula or breast feeding alone, it is perfectly alright to wait until about 6 months to introduce cereal.
However, if baby is hungry between 4 hour feedings and is at least 2-3 months old, cereal may help 'tide him/her over' and wait longer between feedings......especially through the night.
Start out with a very thin cereal and watch for any signs of stomach upset.

When they get teeth or around 6 months. Their little digestive systems aren't really equipped to process cereals until then. I have seen terrible things with mom's too eager for their baby to sleep through the night and give them cereal mixed with milk through a slotted bottle. This baby got so constipated it's not funny.
Be patient they grow so fast.

My daughters pediatrician recommended nothing but breast milk for the first year and then introduce the baby cereal (made with breast milk) when she is one. We did that with our first, our second had cereal at nine months. Each child is different, but your baby should be able to sit up on her own and be fed while in a high chair. Good luck!

Baby cereal such as those mixed with formula or breastmilk can be given to the child at about 4 months old.

It's ok to give you baby when you think he/or she is ready. I started giving my son cereal in a bottle to fill him up. Just the milk was not doing the job and let me tell you he is a fat little thing. Just go ahead and ask the Dr. and they will tell you ,but it's your baby and no one will know whats best for him/her but you.

Cereal will not hurt your baby. They recommend waiting to feed your baby cereal w/spoon when he starts baby food.My son had to have cereal in his bottle since 1mth because of acid reflux. He started eating it from spoon at 6 mths and it was his fav. thing to have for breakfast.
