I was also curious what ones I didnt need. The programs that are constantly running: Zonealarm Suite 2006, Yahoo Messanger, and most of the time mozilla. So i dont want to shut these down, or anything that I need system wise.

For the Svchost, I have, 4 systems, 2 network services, and a local service.

I was wondering if I could shut down any to gain more resources. I checked most of them out, but, I dont know what alot of them are for.

Well, I do have those, and I have Spyware doctor, Zonalarm antispy/virus, and all the other features. But none of them catch everything. I was wondering what I should turn off. And the wscntfy is the stupid microsoft popup that annoys me. I purposly shut off updates, and it constantly pops up saying im in danger. I want it gone...thats mostly what I needed help with.

To get rid of the Security Centre icon (wscntfy) do the following:

- Click Start then Run.
- Type services.msc in the box that appears and click OK, this should bring up the Services control panel.
- Scroll down the list until you find the Security Centre service, right-click on it and select Properties.
- In the dialogue that appears click the Stop button then, once it's stopped set the Startup type to Manual and hit OK.

As for the svchost processes you're seeing, it's some of the other running Services in that control panel that are creating them and if you know what you're doing you can shut more of them down. BUT a lot of the services in there are critical to various aspects of your machine so it's pretty dangerous killing them if you don't know for sure what you're doing. This page takes you through each of them describing what they do so you can decide if it's safe for you to stop any more of them:

GO TO TASK MANEGER ... PRESS CLT+ALT+DEL ... THEN PROCESSES ... AND CLOSE WHAT YOU WANT.

but first get spybot and ad-ware!!!! they would help you to clean up all spywares.
