i have a 1993 pontiac grand am se.....when the gas gauge gets to just about the half a tank mark it starts acting up. the problem is when i start to accelerate after slowing down the motor feels and sounds like its redlining like im not shifting gears, its an automatic....and as soon as i put more gas into the car and keep it above a half a tank it runs fine. anyone have any ideas?

First check to see if there are any fault code from the computer, if there are check your fault codes book and take it from there.

Almost sounds like a vacuum problem with the gas system. Once the gas is lower, air gets in the tank. You may need to replace the seal on the gas tank. Just a guess though.

SOunds like someone put something else in the gas tank...Like maybe sugar?? Hope not.

check your slave cylinder, its mounted on the firewall. check fuel fiter too.
