If your normal vaginal lubrication has not been occuring for a few weeks (so you are experiencing extreme dryness) and the lubrication that occurs when you become aroused has a thick, almost rubbery consistency and a bloody color to it, what could be wrong?

BTW, I'm going to see a doctor, but the soonest I can get in is a few weeks off, and even if I can find a different one, it won't be this weekend while everything is closed, so please try to placate my worried mind while I wait to get an appointment.

Medical History:
I'm 22, I am not currently sexually active (but have been in the past and have been tested since - I don't have any STDs, I'm sure. I'm also not pregnant - I've never been with men), I don't have cramps, I don't have itching, the only sensation I can think of is a mild but nagging burn that I think is due to having the dryness for this amount of time.

Anyone have an idea what might be wrong? Any idea how to get more comfortable while I wait for a doc? Thanks

I'm not on the pill and there is no burning that I can link to urination. My period is a couple of weeks away yet. I'm a little concerned about it being around once I finally get in to a doctor though, if I don't get in earlier than what I have set.

I actually don't take any kind of medicine for anything right now. No vitamins or the like either.

You could have bacterial vaginosis (less likely)-caused by a change in the normal flora of the vagina. More likely, you have an abscess of a bartholin gland. The bartholin glands provide lubrication at the introitus (entrance of the vagina). They can become infected with normal skin/vaginal flora and become an abscess. May have to be drained or antibiotics given. Or it could be something with your cervix.

As far as comfort, take ibuprofen for pain and any swelling. I hope you have some undertanding partners...

It sounds like an infection of some sort. Is the burning while you urinate? If so, it could be a bladder infection. The dryness could be because of a medication, too. I'm not entirely sure what could be causing the blood. When was your last period? Is it possible that it could be coming soon? All of those, are things you might want to consider. I really hope it gets better for you!

It could be inflammation of something called the Bartholin Gland. That is the gland that supplies lubrication to the vaginal area during sex. Sometimes that gland gets inflamed for various reasons and needs treatment. Since you already have an appointment with a physician, I think it will be okay to wait, unless swelling, pain or fever develops. If that happens, then I would suggest you go to an Urgent Care Center and get it taken care of as soon as possible. I hope this is helpful to you.

I'm glad you are going to a doctor. In the meantime, go see a pharmacist and see if you can get an over the counter treatment. The blood concerns me. Perhaps you have cysts. Sometimes they arent an issue, sometimes they are. But the earlier you find out, the better. Good luck

If it's not an STD it could be a yeast infection. You can get over the counter treatments like monostat that may help until you can get to a doctor for a real diagnosis. Hope this helps.

Hormone levels, estrogen, effect vaginal wetness. Do you take hormones? For what? Maybe your estrogen is just low. Hormone levels vary throughout life. Try Vitamin E oil. It has worked for me. And there are newer products that are lubricants which should be helpful also. Just apply them to dry areas.

Try looking up endometriosis...plus if you are on the pill sometimes it has this effect on women...it could be an allergy... but the endometriosis sounds like it could be it...I know that it is supposed to cause a lot of pain but in some women it doesnt...it could also be a hormone problem

Sounds like a change in your hormone levels. Try using a topical over the counter creme for the irritation until you can be seen.

I think you might have a yeast infection. There is stuff at the drug store that will work in one day.

You do need to go see you Gynocologist. That is the best in dealing with that sort of problem.
