i feel somewhat vindicated. i have known since i was about twelve that pluto does not have the physical and orbital characteristics that fit the pattern set by the major bodies in the solar system. later, with the discovery of hundreds of other bodies with similar orbits to pluto, i knew that this was inevitable. it was just the right thing to do. the international astronomical union corrected the mistake of classifying pluto as a planet initially. this does not change anything about the solar system or pluto.
(1) A classical planet is a celestial body that (a) is in orbit around the Sun, (b) has sufficient mass for its self-gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic equilibrium (nearly round) shape, and (c) has cleared the neighborhood around its orbit.
(2) A dwarf planet is a celestial body that (a) is in orbit around the Sun, (b) has sufficient mass for its self-gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic equilibrium (nearly round) shape, (c) has not cleared the neighborhood around its orbit, and (d) is not a satellite.
(3) All other objects orbiting the Sun shall be referred to collectively as "Small Solar System Bodies".

I thought the reason it was no longer considered a planet was that it's orbit intercepts Neptune. As for whether I'm happy about it or not, I'm kinda bummed. I did a couple projects on it, I've made references to it, I've even looked into it here and there, just to kill some time. Now, what, was all that useless? Pluto's being downgraded after 76 years of being a different world, now it's just a fraction of one. What's Mickey's dog supposed to be called now? Uranus? As for Astrology, I'm not that big of a follower of the art, though I do enjoy looking at a daily horoscope. Can't say I'm too worried, though I am a Scorpio.

The reason I read about, was that Pluto has not cleared it's orbit of all other objects, and that was because it has an unusual orbit, that crosses Neptune's orbit.
This does not make sense to me, because that would disqualify Neptune as a planet also. Or if you think about it, it would disqualify any planet with a moon also. There has to be more to it.
I think that the real reason they ejected Pluto, is because they think much of the mass of Pluto is what we would call frozen gases, such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen and other chemicals which are gases on earth.
If this is true, then it is a poor classification.

I had that mixed feelings when I read about Pluto not being a planet anymore. However, Pluto will always travel in it's irregular orbit around the sun such like any other planet. It will always be our beloved nano planet.
Redefining Pluto means nothing to me, and means nothing to Pluto itself. It's just our subjects definition obsession that is taking us too far away from logic.

It's still there -- so it shouldn't cause an astrological imbalance - not any more than it already does (one of the reasons it was "knocked off" the list is because its orbit wasn't consistent (sometimes crossed into Neptune's)) I think just classifying it as a dwarf planet, and recognizing that there are a couple of more that are out there is kind of cool.

I couldn't care less! My life is not likely to change even a little bit now that Pluto's no longer a planet.

Are you on drugs? Astrology is a fraudulent pseudo-science with no basis in empirical fact. It's called a "cold read." They take general statements that apply to anyone and simple minded people buy into that because it makes them think they can control the universe and alter their fate. They're preying on your fears.

I am shattered, life is not worth living since Pluto has gone away, I shall never be the same. Next thing they will be telling us "There is no Santa Claus or Easter Bunny".
