Absolutely not acceptable. In the case of a university professor/student, the student will hopefully graduate and be free to have a relationship after graduation. I've seen that happen, and happily. Same thing would apply for a teacher, teaching an adult in adult ed. There will be a time when the student is no longer in the class. Then a relationship could be pursued, if they are both adults.

In general, I think that having a personal, romantic relationship between teacher and student is not wise. If it is true love, both parties should wait until they are not involved in a student/teacher situation. First of all, some schools would consider such a relationship immoral and that would put the teacher's job in jeopardy. There is a possibility of conflict of interest; others may perceive the student as receiving special favors or higher grades due to the relationship. Finally, there are no guarantees of eternal love. If the teacher cuts off the relationship, the student could make problems both legally and professionally. If the student cuts off the relationship, the teacher could cause problems with classes/ grades etc. If either of the people are already married, there are even more problems. All in all, it's a crap shoot.
While I have admired teachers or my own students, I have never had a crush on any of them. I merely wish them well and maybe pay attention when there is an article in the newspaper with a familiar name.

I think there could be a relationship between a student and a teacher, a bond like student and mentor, but nothing beyond. Only trouble is the result, for both teacher and student. If there should be any kind of relationship the student should be either close to finishing school, being at a different school then the teacher, or being in higher education and a teacher at a primary school. This is the only safe way, anything else I disagree. I once had a crush on a teacher but there was no way things could ever work between us and I just let go.

Many students have crushes on their teachers, and some teachers may be attracted to one of their students. As long as they are both in a teacher/student relationship, that's it. When the student is no longer a student of the teacher, depending on their ages, something more might be possible.

If they're both adults, I think it's okay, but not while you're teaching them. I don't consider high schoolers to be adults in this sense (though I think it's important to treat them like adults in most other ways). If a college professor has the hots for a student and the feeling is mutual, I think it's okay to date AFTER the class has ended for the semester and there's no chance that they'll be together in another class. Otherwise the teacher has a moral and professional obligation to keep it just that- moral and professional.

i think its ok for student and teacher to date as long as their age difference isnt too big, however it is awkward being in class when ur teacher is ur lover. its better to keep love out of work. if u dont have any classes with the teacher u dating then its fine and if u 2 are actually in love with each other than go for it even if one of u is the others student. i havent really fallen for a teacher, it was the doctor that gave me a cast when i broke my arm. jsut a few minutes once a week for a month i got to see him but i got over it cause it wouldnt go anywhere.

No not at all! Relationships between teachers and us would help everyone out! I have fallen in love with a girl teacher (I am a young lady!) because she was sooo funny and so sweet that she made me laugh so hard. I fell in love with Ms.Allison because she was hilarious! But that was last year.

I have nerver fallen in love with any teacher, admired yes.
If you and the teacher is at the right age, why not.
love as in physical attraction and study learn is of different thing, so you have to view them in 2 things totally. Is only to learn things or lecture by adult who is junior then you are.

I think that there is a very gray line with that. Even though you both may be of age, if it is found out that you and a former student are going out, then others may think that something was going on while they were your student
