Hell yeah, b-tch! Well said!

Us Metalheads are frowned upon from society is because we are not brainwashed into the minds of the mainstream music. We do not strive to be popular, or try to follow. We are our own person. We have mature music tastes, because it takes a shitload of talent in heavy metal, no matter what ANYONE says.

Everyone in society today will do anything to be accepted by the "higher class" population. Such as, if a couple is going to an Opera show. I really doubt they can stand the music, but they want to show that they have a "high class" taste in music. We like what we want because it's GOOD MUSIC, not because we want to be accepted by superficial judgmental narcissists.

Also, some people are so brainwashed by religion, they think that if we listen to music with "anti-Christ" lyrics (Marilyn Manson - "I'm not a slave to a God that doesn't exist"...) we worship "the devil". It's extremely stupid if you think about it. We're talking about MUSIC here, folks. Not a satanic bible.

Listen to whatever you want, but don't judge.

So what if people call me a misfit, I enjoy every second of the songs I listen to.

Punks and metalheads have a lot in common.. most of my friends are one or the other.. or both. It's because we're too cool, most of society is stuck up and we have the balls to think what we want and let everyone know our opinions. The subculture is spawned out of frustration with society.. and those who are content with their superficial existence judge us on looks and the fact they don't like the way our music sounds. You know.. instead of listening to what we have to say. Being an outcast means being yourself. Our society thrives on judging others, and this subculture thrives on not caring who is judging.
To the person above me.. the thing is in the 90's there were a lot of metalheads, and a lot of goths, it was popular for a few years. Now this punk being popular thing.. well most of this music ISN'T punk.. Good Charlotte isn't punk! A mohawk doesn't make you punk... the Clash and Circle Jerks and Rancid and Pennywise are punk... there are still a thousand unknown bands that are real punk that these little kids who claim to be punk wouldn't listen to and have never heard of. Punk and metal starts in the garage and thrives in small clubs. It's the roots of DIY. When something like this becomes popular, kids flock to be the different one, well what is different is BEING YOUR DAM SELF! It becomes popular and overnight rockers come out of the woodwork.
Unity my friend! Remember also not to judge others until you get to know them! You may be surprised.... this is the most special thing about being a rocker, being yourself and not caring who someone is, what music they like, as long as they are cool. Society can hate us for being different.. but I will accept you for who you are- until you get in my face!

Uh, Dude - - - Metalheads are outcasts misfits etc and that is one of the essentials of being a Metalhead - - - not being part of the pack - - - until a Mormon Heavy Metal group hits the charts it will always be that way. If maistream Amercia suddenly embrased YOU then watch out for the cliff up ahead.

I think its bcuz for more conservative ppl, seein a metalhead is still something rather shockin, all the loud music (which they probably do not consider as music either, its just loud noise to them), the piercings, tattoos, n etc, are strangley still not fully accepted in todays "modern" society. Its like with everythin else, back in Elvis´s time, he was a shocker, the beatles shocked everyone...and u know the funny thing is Punk was not considered as the "in" thing until just very recently..till it became "cool". Bands like good charlotte just started appealin to more ppl instantly makin it mainstream punk, altho punk itself actually stands for being rebelilous and all things outside of societies acceptance-circle. So...hey just give it some time, trust me, in a couple of years metalheads are gonna be so the "in" thing to be. And until then just ignore all the things that ppl who are too narrow minded to accept anythin different than what they know say, ok? And in my personal opinion, i find that it is the "misfits of society" who seem to have it more together, than most of the popular ones. But this is just my opinion anyway. Just be yourself and keep doin what makes you happy. :)

I don't hate metalheads, but I do detest the music they listen to. It sounds too synthetic to be considered instruments and singing, and it sounds more like heavy noise than music.

Furthermore, it does take talent, but I'm not a fan of the result. I'm not brainwashed by society into liking the music I enjoy. I just follow my natural leaning towards that type of music. To each his own.
