Why is one legal and not the other?

the difference is that both (or all in some cases) of the people having sex get paid in porn, while prostitutes just get paid. The only reason I could see in porn stars being legal and prostitution not is that porn stars have to be checked for STD's and prostitutes don't because whats going to happen to them if they don't? They can't be sued for it, they don't have management telling them to get checked, and you can't go to the cops and complain that you paid a prostitute gave you an STD.
I have another question for you though, what about actors/actresses that have sex in regular movies for film. That usually isn't faked.

Both get paid for having sex. Prostitutes you can find on your local downtown street corner. Porn stars can be found in the XXX section of a video store.

PS gets alot more money. They also are considered legal, have an union and gild, and their own emmy awards show.
A prostitute gets arrested, beat up and robbed, and usually no respect. Plus, their boss is usually very cruel and abusive.

Who knows. They both get payed for crazy sex, so I don't see a huge difference. The biggest difference is that prostitutes don't entertain the pervy masses with their sex, unless someone video tapes it.

the difference between the two is one is on t.v. and mags. and the other really isn't famous, they're just on streets. i don't know why one is legal and not the other tho.
