It's about a Med to large for a man.

size 40 jacket is the Chest measurement. So it for a man that measures 40" at the nipples. Usually they also have a length also - S-short, R-regular, and L-long - this pertains to the sleeve and coat length.

i know what you mean...my husband is a big guy too, he is a 48 and his jacket is a 56 i believe so i would guesstimate around a 50-52 for you

A little bigger than a 39 & a little smaller than a 41. What other answer could you possibly want for this?
