These days, I see people dress up their automobile by replacing after market low profile wheels with tire wall thinner and up scale the rim size to match up with overall outside diameter, why??? what benefit and consequence from that???
Thanks in advance

Benefit?? Not much on that...Unless the bling bling. Consequences...are alot, tire wear, price of new treads, and damge to the vehicle itself. Let alone more weight, and less gas mileage. Let alone screw up your speedo and things related to it.

A wider tire will grip the road better. The narrow sidewall of a low profile tire will flex less when cornering, giving you more precise control.

However, these tires often do a worse job of absorbing bumps. And if you get carried away (like those guys running 22" wheels), you wind up with a wheel and tire combination so heavy it makes the car handle worse.

The reason they keep the tire diameter the same is so the speedometer will work correctly.

Well in an ideal world larger rims and lower profile tires can reduce squirm a bit and improve cornering slightly, as the car body will roll a bit less and therefore not allow the car's weight to shift outward quite so much in a turn.

Unfortunately, it is not an ideal world, at least not on the roads on which I drive, which seem to include potholes and cracks in the road surface. Lower profile tires mean less rubber and air cushion between those expensive aftermarket alloys and the road, and when they encounter irregularities in the paved surface they tend to bottom out and damage the rims.

In addition, even when they do not bottom out, they still afford less cushion to the car, and so make the ride rougher, both on the driver and the car.

there is really no benefit from it,,just a lot of cost involved in doing it,,they change to bigger rims,,and smaller tires to help get better mileage sometimes,,but most of the time it,s just for looks,,and does not help increase anything,,may make a thief look at it and consider stealing it though,,just for the wheels and tires,,i myself,,prefer the stock wheels,,hope this help,s.

It just looks cool. Actual performance of tires is a lot worse then regular tires.
