I am starting university this September, and am starting to pack. I got refused for the uni halls so am moving into a three bedroom house. I am trying to write a list of the essentials I need to take. So far I am going to pack -
My art equipment ( going to study graphics )
Lap top
Tv
Stereo
Playstation
Dvd's
Clothes
Cd's
A few kitchen items ( plates, folks etc )
Toiletries
And a few forms for the uni.
Can anyone thing of anything major I am missing?
I think there is something very important but am always a bit of a worrier so might be just that.

Bedding, towels, washcloths, bicycle, backpack, pictures.

I chuckled that you are taking your "folks" along as kitchen items. Better learn to cook. ;-)

Aloha

A small first aid kit could be useful. They can be bought from Boots for under a tenner. A few reminders of home is always nice, eg. photo's, ornaments. You'll be in the house for a long time so try and make your space "yours". That's all that matters really. Good luck and enjoy it. Look on it as an adventure not as a stressful time. If you forget anything, it doesn't really matter.

an extension lead is useful for electrical items, also ensure you have a set of bedding - duvet, sheets, pillows etc, sleeping bag (useful for people if they crash at yours after a night out), an alarm clock, batteries (never know what you might need them for), pens (although usually free ones can be acquired on freshers week!), posters to jazz up your room, desk lamp (if there isn't one supplied), plasters and antiseptic cream, a backpack (saves carrying too much home if you go home for the weekend!)... I can't really think of anything else, but you seem to have most of the essentials on your list!

Coathangers. everyone forgets these.
Passport photos (will be needed in abundance)
bed linen: pillow cases, duvet, duvet cover, pillows, undersheet
towels.
Coffee, tea, sugar, milk (will need them as you wont be able to go shopping immediately)
padlocks (or stuff will get stolen)
money. obvious but again, you will need it for the first couple of weeks if the loan doesnt come through immediately.
chargers. for mobile, laptop etc.

I'm attempting to pack myself at the mo and Im badgering people who have gone to uni for advice on what to pack. It's always the obvious stuf that people forget apparently.

Contents Insurance, students are a big target for thieves and you have rich pickings there especially for some of the so called 'friends' you will meet. You will also need a tv licence or face a big fine.

Your own pillow and duvet. Believe me, you'll be thankful that you have your own and don't have to use something manky. All other things that come to mind are rather unmentionable...but you'll soon learn the importance of an empty 1litre bottle of Coke and a pair of old butter kives.

My son recently left for college. Your list looks pretty good to me. The only thing I notice that might be missing is any personal decor items...posters, etc. Good luck.

Be sure to have a bed and bedding, any personal lights/desk lamps you might want. I'd suggest bringing your own pillows, and lots of pictures. Good luck, and have fun. If you have more questions, email me.

Some photos from home. And something from your bedroom at home like a cushion or picture.
