Past a certain age (35) there is the major reproductive risk that due to decreased fertility, you may not be able to get pregnant. Also, the chance of having a Down syndrome baby increases; 40 yr old women chances are 1 in 100. Although, 25% of D.S. can be related to a defect in the father's sperm. Other risks involved with becoming an mother at this age are: possibility of developing high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, miscarriage, and preterm delivery. Labor and delivery can be difficult as well.
That's what they say! I say go for it! My mom had me when she was 39 and I'm ok (well some might disagree with that statement : )! You are definitely more mature and settled in your life to become a great and loving mom!!!! Best of Luck!

I think 41 is a wonderful age to have a baby, I know that most women in there 40's are so content for whom they are and what a blessing that you can raise a child with that kinda confidence. I would have a child in a heart beat at 46 , I am fit, confident, financially secure, but I am so scared of what the family will say or friends. You go have that baby

Not ideal child bearing age but plenty of people are doing it. You will need to make sure to get proper prenatal care and screen for birth defects. There is some data that suggests that babies of older mothers may be more at risk for certain things but I'm not too convinced about that.

Defineatly too old. My mother was 29 when she had me, and my father was 41. My father is now 62 1/2, and I basically just turned 21!

No. People do it. Just make sure you have enough thiamin and niacin in your body when the conception happens to minimize birth defects. I'd say just talk to your ob/gyn 1st. They will refer you to a high risk medical specialist to run tests on you 1st to rule out any problems. Just take a multi vitamin everyday until you get pregnant. It's a little bit harder now to get pregnant than some one in their 20's since you're eggs are older.

how long do people in your family typically live? If most are dead in their 60s, it would probably be really hard on the poor kid. If health is great long into the 80s, should be fine.
I had my last at 36, and started freaking to realize that when he was 36, i'd be 72. hopefully.
