Yes, I could live with the rough ride and stiff suspension.

I did, but have another daily driver. Corvettes don't perform well in rainy weather and because of their low stance, are rarely seen in snow. Only if you live in a warm climate, will you have an all year car.

Start looking but check out a lot of them until you find the exact one you want. There are a lot of variables and options throughout the 6 generations. The rarer the particular car, the more expensive it will be.

Most parts are not hard to find through the dealer and an assortment of after market catalogs. Chevy dealers parts are more limited to models from the last 15 yrs.

Repairs are costly as most parts are not Chevy but Corvette parts. Basic tune up parts are available at the dealer. This is a performance car so performance costs $$$. Be ready to spend but check out your sources first. Corvete designed a performance car with performance parts. These parts are specific to the model and are usually better than cheaper after market products.

You will definitely need a Corvette mechanic who is familiar with the model. I use a dealership that sells over 100 vettes a year as I know they are familiar with my 19 yr old car. I have tried others and have had poor results.

There are many clubs, groups and enthusiasts throughout the country. Contact one in your area. Someone will be happy to answer your questions.

I'm on my second Corvette. Current ride is a C5 coupe (2002). Rides great. If you want a smooth riding Corvette don't get the sport suspension. AND not a good car for winter driving.

Best value is the C5 model (1997 to 2004)

I have driven very long distances without stopping (450 miles once) Car gets good mileage, 28-29 mpg in sixth gear @ 70 mph.

Yes, I would buy another one.

Depends on the year, but if I was given the chance to purchase a 1957 or 1959 Corvette, then yes--absolutely. The ones that have hit the bottom rung of their depreciation period are stylistically not appealing to me, so I wouldn't buy one...and the new ones are out of my price range--but I'd love to own a Z06.

I used to have a '76 and it was fun but really just a novelty. You can't see over anything. You feel everything you drive over. You have to climb down into the dang thing and getting out feels like you are being freed from a hole. A Vette is not a good car if that is the only car you can have. I have always had at least two cars. If the Vette had been all I had to drive I would have sold it much sooner than I did.

There is also the "Look at me - Please" factor to consider when it comes to Vettes. It would be less expensive to just get a VW and put a bumper sticker on it that says, "Look at me -Please". It's a car that is not for everyone and thus some poeple, ladies incl, might make a point of not noticing you and your appendage vehicle. I had a friend who always wanted her cars for their status value so man did she hate it when I pulled up next to her and her Mercedes at a stop light in Scottsdale, AZ - in my fully restored 1959 Edsel Ranger - "What Mercedes?"

It's the kind of car that, if you can afford it, that is to say try it and be able to let it go and not be stuck with it, that is fun to try at least once...while you can still get down into and up out of things without help from a nurse. Like me dang it.

No. I simply can't see driving up to 800 miles a day in one of those things as I do in my minivan. They are stiff and hard and probably noisy, which is great if you want to run from the cops, but not suited for all-day 70mph comfort for older people.

I pass a lot of Corvettes on the Interstate. The drivers look tired.

The Corvette is good in performance, but I have doubts about it's reliability in the long run...

of course.. but, i would like to specify which corvette, Most people would go with a classic example, but myself, i'd like to have the newest ZO6. With it's 7.0L engine, and 0-60 in a time of about 3.7 seconds.. yes, that'd be an amazing car, but.. now i would need to find a place to drive it hard...hmm..

Only if it was a pre 1962. The 57 - 59s are really my favorites. Anything after that is too big or too gaudy and the design lines are just not the same.

I am shopping for a C5 NOW. I saw one painted a REAL dark maroon metallic, and decided THAT is the color I must have. Unfortunately, most of the low priced ones are either black or gray. YUCK!!
