I am assuming that you car is an automatic....do you have it in park? If you don't your car won't start. Sounds stupid but it happens a lot, people get out of the car in a hurry and forget to put the car in park before they shut it off....go check, at least it would be a simple solution, and cost nothing if that were the case.

Sometimes if my steering wheel is turned when I shut the car off, when I get back into it, the same thing happens to me. It won't barely turn, but if you turn it slightly, it goes back and my key will fit just fine. I hope it is as simple as that for you. Good luck.

Try stepping on the clutch....or brake peddle. If that doesn't work. You may need to replace the ignition itself.

The lock cylinder may be damaged or worn out. You will have to pull the wheel to replace it or hot wire the car..
