Because it's just a force of nature and nobody had the power to stop it. All we can do is just prepare for the storm and evacuate everyone quickly, and hope for the best.

The storm? Natural events, look at the shape of that coast! Hurricanes have been going there since there was that land mass.
I live in a place where tornadoes happen. Do I ask the government to help me after a tornado swipes through my house? No, I have insurance, or I move on. You live in a place that is prone to floods, tornadoes hurricanes, or earthquakes, you have to expect that something might happen! If it does and you survive, pick yourself up, bury your dead, and go on!
If you live in a place that is nine feet below sea leave, can you expect dikes to hold against every natural disaster? NO!
I have nothing but compassion for people in the areas hit.. Hey though, didn't you know there were storms when you moved in? I lived on a boat, it might have sank! That are the risks

Why would you ask something like that at this point in time. If you didn't have to live through the hell that was life after Katrina then your question is out of line. It happened because of a force of nature. Hurricanes happen, floods happen, tornado's happen, fires happen, ice storms happen, what is your point? Are you looking for a reason for something to happen. Like did God cause it to punish New Orleans or to cleanse the Gulf Coast of all the gambling. Well here's your answer natural disasters just happen and we are still recovering from that one here in MS.

Global Warming has risen the sea surface temperature...making hurricanes more intense, but the average number of hurricanes are the same from past years. Expect category 4 and 5 hurricanes in the future.

If you are talking about why there were so many deaths it was because the State heads sat on their butts and did nothing until it was too late. They knew it was going to hit almost a week before hand and they didn't call for an evacution until the last minute. No I was not part of Katrina, but I was part of Rita. When the State of Texas knew Rita was going to hit us they called for an evacution 4 days before it was going to hit to be safe. I lost my home and I was grateful that we had warning to get out without a bunch of craziness going on.

Because hurricanes are natural occurrences. Some argue it was worse due to global warming while others argue it was just one of earth's many natural disasters.

As for the large number of deaths, that's largely due to the levees not holding up during the Hurricane.

You can just google this.

Wind happens when cold air meets hot air. Don't know for sure, but hurricane might be cold front that finds itself getting spun out of shape when it enters tropics and picks up lots of moisture. Nothing religious about it. The results of that storm can get summed up by one word incompetence local, state federal.

Depends, do you want the scientific answer or the other answer?
I'm not a scientist, but the "other" answer would be that is was a big plot by President Bush and his administration to:
1) Take attention off of Iraq
2) To rid America of "po" black people

Also, help was delayed because:
1) Bush does not care for or want to help "po" black people.

Although residents were TOLD to evacuate, some blame the Governemnt for not getting them out.

Because it was hurricane season.
Global warming is real mind you, but it was hurricane season.

It had nothing to do with global warming.

We have had hurricanes for years.
