This may be perfectly normal for your baby. Babies typically double their birth-weight between 4-6 months and triple their birth weight by 1 year old. If your baby was 6-7 pounds at birth than he/she is probably just fine. Your baby should be scheduled for a 6 month check-up at which time you should discuss your concerns with weight with the doctor. However, if your baby is eating fine, sleeps well, is generally healthy and happy, then I would say he/she is doing well.

Your baby is the 25th percentile on the developmental growth chart that the pediatricians use...this means that at out of all the babies that are 5 months old in the U.S., 25% weigh less then your baby and 75% weigh more. For a doctor that isnt cause for concern especially if your baby has been gaining weight since birth.
Dont worry, and for extra assurance ask your doctor at the next appointment and they will show you the curve chart inside your childs file.

I agree w/ the nurses answer. What was your baby's weight at birth and how much is your baby eating? My baby only weighed 11 pounds at 5 months. Then again, she was 4 pounds at birth.

Nope, nothing is wrong with a 5 month old only weighing 13 pounds, HOWEVER, if she is not growing and gaining weight, that is a problem. Some babies are smaller than others. If she is growing, gaining weight, eating well, then it's fine for her to be smaller than "average."

well the only way to be sure is to ask a pediatrician, but some babies are just small. my daughter is a year old and is only 18 pounds, when she was 5 months she was about the same weight as your baby, shes just a small girl.

My son was only 2lb 15 oz at birth 3 months early and he is now 6 and only 42 pnds his siter is 18months younger and is taller and weighs more. Every kid is differant. As long as you going to your well baby check ups and the dr says he is ok. Make sure you tell your dr everything that worries you he might not see everything that you do because you are with the baby a lot more.

If the baby's height is proportionate to his wieght. Then there probably isn't anything wrong. I had a doctor try to run extensive tests on my son for being small and when I got other opinions it turns out that there is nothing wrong with him. He is 1 year old and only 15 lbs. And is 27 inches tall and looks fine. He is right on track physically and developmentally. But check with your pedi.

What was the weight of the child when first born, how many ounces intake per day? Have you taken the baby for it's doc visits on 2 and 4 month and what did the doc say? Those questions need to be answered before worrying.

You should talk to your pediatrician about this at your next well-baby check-up. They'll tell you if something's wrong or not. Without knowing any additional information about your baby, no person on here CAN provide you with any useful information.

It all depends on the baby's weight at birth. Was the baby less than 7.O lbs at birth? Go to a pediatricin. No need to worry yourself.
