history is an echo of the past that has created the present and something that creates the future...

right at this moment in the present, we are creating history...and the future...

its amazing that all three of them merge at the same point, isnt it;)

History is the story of the travels of mankind through time. The ups, the downs, the in-betweens. The victories, the defeats and the draws. History is the culmination of mans' experience since the first man set stylus to clay and wrote down what was happening.
Let us not forget that history also includes those tales that can be told only by research of the peoples living before the written word.

History is past events that have an impact on the future. Everything that has happened since life began is history. Some
events have a more long lasting and wider effect than others but everything has some importance and should never be taken for granted.

What is history you may ask? History is the study of human behavior over time. The development of society and the idealogy of society.
As society progresses as does it history. We look for history for questions that pertain to current times.
Like they say history repeats itself. History moulds a society as it grows.
Sometimes an event is so influencial in the develoment of rights and ideals that are common to us now.
Like take for example the eracation of slavery, black liberation or world wars help develop different aspect of society.
Black Liberation of 60's and 70's help reckonized black rights to vote and become a contributing member of society. Out of this came equality rights.
Know we once again relive it now as homosexuals now fight for their own rights.
History could be seen as a snapshot in time by revealing lifestyle, economy and social standards.
History plays a key to our future because if we could learn from our past mistakes then we could apply it good use and make society a better place to live.

History is the study of one's past as it relates to the future. Whoever said that "those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it" is wrong...I said that to my college professor and I thought he was going to kick me out of class! History cannot repeat itself because no two events are caused by the exact same reasons under the exact same circumstances....true, one can learn from history, and one can apply lessons learned, but one cannot always apply the past to the present (or future) because circumstances, technology, people, places, etc...change over time. But, why do people post essays on Yahoo! Answers? Why don't they ONLY supply the link?

History is the study of the past. It also defines the present.

. HISTORY IS THE FOUNDATION IN WHICH WE LIVE OUR LIVES BY EVERY DAY. WE GET UP WE GO TO WORK ,TO SCHOOL,TO CHURCH. SOME OF US STAY HOME. DON'T WORRY I'M GOING SOMEWHERE WITH THIS,THESE ARE THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN HANDED DOWN THROUGH GENERATIONS, WHICH IS HISTORY. HISTORY IS VERY IMPORTANT PART OF OUR LIFE. THAT IS HOW WE KNOW WHO WE ARE WITHOUT IT WE WOULD BE NOTHING. IT IS HISTORY THAT MAKES UP THE TOTAL EXISTENCE OF THE WORLD. AND IF YOU TAKE A GOOD LOOK AROUND YOURSELF YOU WILL SEE HISTORY HAVE A WAY OF REPEATING ITSELF. TAKE A GOOD LOOK AROUND IN YOUR FAMILY ,OTHER PEOPLE THAT YOU KNOW, PEOPLE YOU DON'T KNOW. WHERE I LIVE ALMOST ALL THE FEMALES THAT WAS ON FOOD STAMPS NOW THAT THEIR DAUGHTERS ARE GROWN THEY ARE ON FOOD STAMPS. SEE HOW HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF. THAT IS WITH EVERY PHRASE OF OUR LIFE, ALL THE WAY TO WASHINGTON [THE WHITE HOUSE]

I believe that history is events that happen in the past, from God's creation to the lastest current events. It reflects everyone in their lives, whether we study it, learn it, live it or experience it. There's the history we have of past relationships and experiences in our life that reflect ourselves and our daily lives. That's what history means to me.

It's putting facts together to make a guess of what has happened years ago.
It's analyzing, guessing, facts, and knowing what has brought us to this day.
Those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it.

I would say that you are actually gaming for points and most of us don't like that. Yahoo Answers really doesn't like it.

Good Luck with YOUR homework.
