pay off the smallest bills first. then take that payment and add it to the next highest bill. keep going til its done. call the credit card company(s) and tell them you need a lower interest rate to keep you out of bankruptcy. they usually drop the rate. instant gratification when you see the small one getting paid off. get rid of cell phones and cable. at least for now. stop eating out. carry lunches to school and work. plan trips to cut back on gas use. its called 'do without' for a while. when the bills are smaller add back 1 luxury like maybe cable. see how your discipline is going with charges and eating out. then add something else like dinner out twice a month. If you have to hunt for the money to pay for it don't go. save up and then do it. make a budget and STICK to it. and in the future ALWAYS live below your means. Americans are so used to getting what they want now and it can really cause problems. We can be quite happy a lot less. m

well what ever you do going into debt is not a way to get out for credit card debt take your scissors and cut them up and pay at least $10 - $20 more than minimum due always use cash to buy what you need and be frugal ask yourself if you absolutely need it before you buy it. Please stay away from credit consolidators they are a rip off. And lastly go to your bank for advice as they are the ones who no more about your personal finances than any one and are usually very trust worthy they can give you the best advice and most times there isn't a charge for it like they are for credit counselors.

You really do not give enough information for anyone to give you good advice. For example, how old are you? What has caused the debt? People out of work? Credit card charging? Outlandish spending? Feeding a drug habit? Tell more so someone gets a better picture of what you need to do.

stop spending more than you have on hand. no credit. no loans. nothing like that. try cash only, if you have to.
