Basically two calendars are used in most muslim countries!

The gregorian calendar which is same as the rest of the world which is the solar calendar and the year is 2006 in it.
The Islamic Calendar which is a lunar calendar and the year is 1427.

In addition there is the Iranian Calendar (persian calendar) but it is not used in practice now!

Iranian current year is 1385 solar year.it is based on revolve earth around sun. the origin of it is the migration prophet from Mecca to Madineh.1427 is moon year that is 11 days shorter than solar year . it is Arabic
