My wife is a nurse and she attends some of my exams. I had cancer and she stayed with me while talking to the Docs because she could ask more intellegent questions than I could. I don't attend her exams.

I would not want my husband to be there during an exam unless something very serious was wrong. I know he'd butt in and try to tell the doctor how I feel, and I'd rather do that myself.
When she was very ill my mother asked me to go to her medical exams to help her remember what the doctor said. It was maddening because the doctors would speak to me as if she wasn't there. She was not senile, just physically ill, so I'd keep telling them to talk to her, not to me, but then they'd start talking to me again.
In most cases medical exams should be one-on-one with the doctor.

I have had my mate drive me to a medical exam, but never in the exam with me. Even when my father was very ill with cancer, my mother drove him but did not go into the physician's office with him.
Among siblings and friends and family, none of us attend our mates exams.
Hope this helps you.

Well... it really depends on the Exam.
My husband doesn't go with me when I got for my "Female Checkup" (PAP ect) or regular doctor visits.
He does go when I go for my "Prenatal Checkups" It's his baby too. He also goes when something is seriously wrong.

I always go to my hubby's appt..cuz he is diabetic and I want to know if he is ok and if there's anything that we are doing wrong...I make him go to my gyno appt..cuz I am always afraid if the doctor is going to do something weird so I want him there to make sure nothing happens and as a witness if something does :)

I don't know how many but those who do do it for support. Particularly as people get older, they need their spouses with them in case they are diagnosed with a serious disease.
