Yes, all girl bands get no respect, here are some good ones that either have a woman as lead or are all girl. Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation, After Forever, Blackmores Night, Edenbridge, Inkubus Succubus, Visions of Atlantis, Laguna Coil, The Birthday Massacre, Kittie, Jack Off Jill, Astarte, Garbage, Drain STH, Bikini Kill, Arch Enemy,Protocol 13, Sugarpuss, The 99s, Doubble the Troubble, Dektos, and more to list but i think this is enough.

The Dishrags from Vancouver were great, also San Francisco's Vs. Also the Nuns, the Vktms, X, I liked the plasmatics (rip wendy....) Swelling Itching Brains (Italy), Agent Orange (Holland, not the OC one). Then post punk/new wave bands like Romeo Void, Pearl Harbour and the Explosions, Suburban Lawns....

I rarely like girl rock bands. I can only think of one or two bands with a chick singing or all girl band that I like. They just tend to rock less I don't like punk period though, I'm a rock/metal guy and I've never heard a girl metal band that was good.

They are just hitting the tip of becoming mainstream. Hopefully they change the thought of society so people don't think just guys are in rock bands.

I don't like girl bands. But one who I just heard who I'm actually kind of sort of considering attempting to like is Paramore.

there was a huuuge movement of female-driven punk bands known as "riot grrl" bands. check out bikini kill, le tigre, sleater-kinney (my personal favorite), heavens to betsy, huggybear, etc. there were also veruca salt and the breeders, and countless others :)
