Scary or gory? The scariest/goriest movie that I have seen in years maybe ever is Hostel. I really thought I was going the to have to leave the theater. The ONLY reason I stayed was that my girlfriend really wanted to leave, I can't give her what she wants.

An OLD movie "Island of the Dead" about people with sleeping sickness getting buried alive. See if you can find the video, but good luck. Boris Karloff played a Greek general in it. Scary!!! Also, "The Thing" ( the original) from the 1950's, with James Arness as the thing.

The first time I watched 'The Omen', it really freaked me out. It was the first horror movie I'd seen and was not at all what I was expecting, I'd thought it was going to be about things that go bump in the night.

The original of "The Omen". I saw it in the afternoon, and was still unnerved by it into the evening. I didn't know anything about that movie before I saw it, and it was quite chilling.
