Why are we not generous, caring, effective, cast efficient and timely in helping people in New Orleans?

Because we have a government that looks at those people by race and not by direct needs. Our government rather send our young adults to a senseless war to get killed than to handle important issues at home.

Generous? The federal government has sent billions of dollars. I haven't sent squat because I knew that New Orleans is sinking into the Gulf of Mexico and isn't WORTH saving, also that the money would be stolen by bogus recipients and wasted or kept by the corrupt local and state politicians, which is exactly what has happened. To HELL with New Orleans.

This seems a bit redundant to repair something that will be broken again in the near future. Although the Government has sent billions down there.

What about people's insurance are they not using that to rebuild? Where are all the nations of the world America has helped over time? When something happens to them they demand our help, when something happens here they turn away.

We are. It's our government that isn't. The North Carolina Baptist Men are building homes in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast and are nearly 15,000 strong.

Americans have personally contributed nearly a billion dollars to helping the victims of Katrina.

It is tragic to say it, but Americans and their government have become two separate entities....and this is a terrible thing to behold.

I feel the main reason is that we are in the South, aka USA's red haired step-child. The second reason is class. I don't feel it's racial, since w/ today's politically correct watch-doggin' out there it would be too obvious. And the Powers that Be certainly don't want to be inked a racist.
