Talk on your cell phone so it looks like you have lots of friends or lots of work to do.
Act like you are waiting for someone - spread out your food so it looks like someone was with you and is in the bathroom
(If you are someplace like McDonalds)

If you are at a fancy restaurant you can't really do all those things you can do at fast food places. Just act like you are busy, confident, and happy being alone. People aren't going to think you are a loser - if anything they will admire you for having the security to go and eat alone. Many people don't.

Who said that people eating alone look like losers... A lot of business travelers eat out alone and they are not losers....

When I was going to college, I had a break between classes so I went to Steak and Shake. Omigod! I felt like everyone was staring at me! They weren't, of course. (Or were they!?) Anyway, I then decided to just use drive thru places when dining alone. I won't even go to the theater alone. I just feel like people will think that I don't have any friends. (I don't really) My boyfriend, however, is very comfortable with being alone. He has lots of experience eating alone in nice restaurants and fast food restaurants. He has gone to the casino, movie theater and club alone. It doesn't bother him. He smokes now, so I am sure that that gives him something to do while he is waiting. But I wonder what he did before he smoked? Stared at people? Talked to himself? Read a newspaper? HHHMMM. This is a simple and yet great question. Thanks! Oh, and thanks for reminding most of us what chickens we truly are when it comes to doing things alone in public.:)

awww thats sad why do you want to go eat out alone? but if you cant find some one to go with you then go to a sports bar and watch the game while you indulge in your food, or go to a cafe' have a cup of coffee and read a book, trust me you wont look like a "loser", you will look sophisticated, and more intelligent, sitting alone. lots of people sit at a bar alone and eat, try to flirt a little with the waiter. just dont go to a five star restaurant by your self thats not classy, that just looks desperate!!!! best of luck, and never care what the people sitting around you think just enjoy your food = )

either you decide not to care or just take something to read or work on. Where I work a lot of people read the paper or study (I work near my college campus) and I don't think people who eat alone are losers. Plus people who eat alone are usually the best tippers. :-)

You won't look like a loser just because you eat alone. As long as you don't feel like a loser, you won't be one, so don't worry. Please go out and eat! Who knows, maybe you will meet another person who is dining alone. :D

Hi,Mr.D. Lord,
I know where you are coming from, and I "USE" to feel exactly like you are feeling at this moment. My fiancee' are usually on seperate schedules,so, at dinnertime, I just do not want leftovers or a sandwich,I want real food.
So, last year (after, hindreds of times that I talked myself out of it),I went to my favorite restuarant, and treated myself to dinner. While waiting for my entree' to appear,I read a magazine that I haven't had time to enjoy. My dinner arrived, and I realized,I enjoyed being by myself.I watched other people interact, and took my time eating.I had a coffee drink for dessert, and wrote out
my grocery list, and things to do list for the rest of the week. So, I accomplished 3 things, and enjoyed my company in the process.
Know,I treat myself to dinner at least 3-4 times a month.Bring a book,balance
your checkbook,etc..and most of all ENJOY being by yourself.Know..I wish ,I hadn't procrastinated going out to eat by myself, and I wish,I had tryed it sooner. it is also a good time to eat at a restaurant that your significant
other doesn't appreciate and you love.
Please make a point in the near future and go out and eat alone, you will really
like it,I guarantee it.Good-luck.let me know, how it goes!!!!!

I have never looked at those dining out alone as losers. My husband has eaten out alone when I am out of town, I have eaten out alone when he is out of town. There are times when our boys are at their friends houses & I do not feel like cooking for one person when my husband is away, so, I GO OUT!!!!

I think it takes more confidence to eat out alone than not. Plus you get to do more people watching.
