If you are doing things on your computer that require more memory than it has, Windows kicks in a program that creates Virtual Memory to act like RandomAccessMemory. VM uses part of your hard drive as memory storage space. It works, but it is slow and your hard drive seems to be be chattering the whole time. If you are using a program and it is running slow and your hard drive is making a lot of chattering noise...that is your VM working for you. Buy some more memory. It will make your hard drive happier and perhaps extend its life by not trying to do something it wasnt made to do.
