I think it has something to do with the war in Iraq

2006-08-26 09:37:57 · answer #1 · answered by ? 6 · 0 0

I must first say that the President or the war in Iraq have anything to do with the gas prices. It is all with the oil companies and sthe thing called supply and demand. But the oil companies try to use every occassion to cause a shortage in the oil production. For example, during Katrina they had to shut down the refineries for 2 days and this caused a slow down in the fuel production. So therefore they raised the price to compensate for that, even though we didn't have a shortage. Here in Ga. the Governor shut down our schools for 2 days and figured that fuel saved by not running the buses was @300,000 gallons state wide. However, until the EPA will let the oil companies build more refineries, they will just keep going and produce what they can, causing them to dictate the price of fuel. Now with Labor day wkend coming up, you can look forward to seeing gas shoot up again. Have you noticed that the cost goes up by leaps and bounds and crawls down very slow, never to the point where it was before the price hike. It is called conditioning and I am damn sick and tired of it. I do however, think that our government should step in and put a cap on prices. After all, don't you think that a record profit of 7.2 billion for a 3 month period is a little excessive??

Gas is a limited resource with high demand. Until alternative energy sources are widely available and used, the cost of gas will continue to increase.

well in the past 2 weeks, the gas price has dropped from $3.07 to $2.89. That's a good thing. I remember 2 years ago, I paid about $1.15 a gallon in the midwest.

The oil companies simply want more money. Why else would they purchase all rights to the electric car. Of course that raises the question of "what electric car?". Because the oil industry wants more money they make people who drive the cars give them more money.

Of course this is an oversimplified statement. However, it is true.

Gas prices have been going down. That fact does not get anywhere near the hysterical media coverage that we see when prices spike up. $2.84/gal in my neighborhood.

In Toronto, they're actually going down for the time being.
But as everyone has already mentioned, blame "The Man" and his egotistical war-mongering braindead mind.
