I just watched it and found nothing wrong with it. Why did they ban the sale of it in the US? What happened to freedom? They can sell porno movies but not an old Disney movie?

FYI - You can still buy on EBAY.

I've seen it. My family was able to get a copy a few years back. As for why it got banned, I think some rocket scientist thought that the character of Uncle Remus was a negative stereotype. I don't think it is any worse then any other movie made in that era dealing with pre-civil war life (which are widely shown).
As for freedom, I don't know what happened to it. I mean, if you don't like a movie, just don't buy it.

I saw "Song of the South" YEARS ago, (in a drive-in with my parents, no less!) and loved it.

I think the banning of Song is because of today's culture of making sure everything is politically correct. The movie is considered to be racially insensitive to black people, moreso than Gone with the Wind, etc.

I know there were recent discussions of a DVD release but I think stockholders reviewed the movie again and are pushing for it not to happen because frankly, many scenes in the movies are prejudiced.
