In some places it is legal if it is legal to park a car. Be sure the trailer is legally registered, and follow other parking regulations. In Imperial Beach CA the boat was allowed to park when our disabled car was towed away.

I was given a warning for having an unattached trailer in front of my parents house.
The meter maid I mean cop said that all trailers need to be attached to the tow vehicle or there is a $50 a day fine in the city after 1 warning.
The law was intended to keep semi's trailers off the street but can be abused to mean almost anything.
I think the marina charges about the same price for transient docking.

Need to check your city ordinances. Usually 2-3 days (weekend) and no one will complain. Past three days, the code enforcer will stop by. Working on boats on the street is also prohibited.

That question struck me as funny when I first read it! How the heck did your boat get on the street?
Then it dawned on me, you are being honest! Depends on your city. Parking my 26 foot carver in my driveway was not legal, but I did that for three years during the winter. No one said anything.
