About two weeks ago, I asked to borrow a book from my cousin to finish a project I was working on. The week after, The book was $30, and I gave it back to them. The next week, I wanted to borrow it again, but she said she was taking it to Costa Rica. On Wednesday, they left for Costa Rica, and we joined them on Saturday. She didn't take it to Costa Rica, and I didn't take my project. The week we came back from Costa Rica, I asked her if I could borrow the book again so I could finish up the project, but she didn't know where it was. Now she claims that I took it from them before they left for Costa Rica. I looked through my whole house, and it is not there, they looked through their house and it's not there.

Do you think I should just pay her to shut her up. She's only 12 and she ALWAYS gets her way, and she is a brat. I don't want to give in, but I'm afraid this may cause a little riff between the family.

We've already been having some pretty bad family problems. The thing is, we aren't exactly family, but she is the closest thing I have to a cousin. My parents hate her parents, even though they used to be best friends. I'm scared that this argument will be the last straw, because Vanessa is starting to pull her parents into the problem.

I'm sorry for you but i think you should not reimburse book, you are not guilty and it will be a proof that you are if you buy it

it sounds to me that after you borrowed the book the first time your cousin didn't want you to borrow it again.she lost the book not you, that's if she did lose the book and shes not just saying that so you cant borrow it. you shouldn't pay for it.you could say you ll go half's on a new book.you should tell your cousin that your not a thief.you should say to your cousin that you will come round her house and help her look for it.why would she tell you that she was taking the book to Costa then leave it.as far as you knew, she had taken the book with her.so why would you steal it from her house if you knew it wasn't there.that's what you should say to her.good luck.sorry my answer is so long.

the mysterious missing book. hum.
sounds to me as if she lost the book, doesnt want her parents to get mad and is using u as a scape goat. (blaming u).
she wants to protect herself.
i beleive u because you said it on here.
why lie to us??? makes no sense.
i beleive you!!!
just pray about it. assure your parents that u didint do it again. then let it drop.
but it does look suspicious like she lost it.
why wasnt she able to lend it back 2 u..then say she was taking it on the trip, then not take it, and now its lost....hum, what do u think???
she is guilty. the guilty dog always barks loudest.

by buying the book, you are saying that you stole the book. and A BOOK?? is going to cause this problem with your family? that's a weak structured family.

If you didn't take it then you should not be held responsible. You were doing the right thing by asking

If you honestly did not lose the book you shouldn't have to pay for it. She prolly misplaced it, I bet it will turn up.

the family will be ok...its just a book

but, you would be crazy to pay for something that you didn't misplace..
tell her to deal with it cuz it's not your fault that it's missing.
