What is New Jersey known for? I mean everywhere I go people that arent from jersey just say its known for being next to New York and the mafia. I want someone from New Jersey to tell me what it means to them. (And I'm from New Jersey.)

I live in NJ too... I feel as though we have alot to be thankful for. We're close enough to Philly and NYC to be able to go there for the evening or even to work if you want to commute.
I live down the shore... we have great beaches. Who doesn't like Long Beach Island? How about Ocean Grove, Seaside or Cape May.
You can drive to Atlantic city if you're into gambling, or just to go on the beaches there if you're not into gambling. You can also just go for one of their shows.
As for the mafia? Ok, I used to live in Elizabeth and can name countless places i've been that are on the opening credits from the Sopranos! lol But I don't think that the mafia is really that big anymore... maybe i'm just naive about that one, I dunnno.
The one negative thing I'm gonna say about NJ is this... we're known for having the highest property taxes in the nation.
Oh, a couple more things we're known for: Jersey tomatoes, Bruce Springsteen, Frank Sinatra and Bon Jovi
