G'day Falcons Rule,
Thank you for your question.
Planet X is a large hypothetical planet with an orbit beyond that of Neptune. The X mentioned in the name represents an unknown, as opposed to the Roman numeral for ten; at the time of its conception there were only eight known planets in the solar system. Its existence, first as a ninth planet, then, after 1930, as a tenth, and once again a ninth planet after Pluto was demoted in 2006, was postulated on the basis of apparent discrepancies in the orbits of the gas giants, especially those of Uranus and Neptune. Those discrepancies have largely been resolved by modern measurement, removing the basis for Planet X.
Although Pluto was discovered as a result of the search for Planet X, it is not considered Planet X. Nor is Kuiper Belt object 2003 UB313, even though it was at one point considered for reclassification as a planet under a proposal outlined by the International Astronomical Union.
In popular culture, "Planet X" has become a generic stand-in term for an undiscovered planet in the solar system. Its use by scientists, however, is exclusively in reference to the particular hypothesis of an additional planet in the outer solar system.
The distant space probes Pioneer 10, Pioneer 11, and Voyagers 1 and 2 disproved the existence of Planet X, as hypothesized by Lowell, in two ways. First, as they passed each of the outer planets, the acceleration gained by the gravitational pull of the planet was used to refine the masses of those planets. It turned out that the masses of the outer planets, calculated by Earth-based observatories, were low by as much as 1%. When the correct masses were used to determine the orbits of the outer planets, the remaining discrepancies vanished.
Second, the trajectories of the space probes have revealed no discrepancies that can be accounted for by the gravitational pull of a large undiscovered object in the solar system. Many astronomers consider this the end of the Planet X hypothesis. This does not preclude the existence of objects potentially as massive as the Earth, which could escape detection in this manner, and would not create noticeable discrepancies in the orbits of the outer planets. Other astronomers think that there may be another planet beyond the Kuiper belt.
There is talk of unnamed planets such as Nibiru but these are pseudoscience.
I have attached sources for your reference.
Regards

Planet X was supposed to be a planet that shared Earth's orbit and orbital period but always on the opposite side of the Sun!
This unseen and unseeable planet 'accounted' for perturbations in the orbits of other planets that couldn't be accounted for by the known planets... until Neptune and Pluto were discovered, that is, 'cos we're talking history here folks! Although astronomers were fairly sure that other planets existed and scoured the volumes of space where calculation suggested they would be found, neither Neptune nor Pluto were actually found in the expected places by scientific method; both were found entirely by accident by astronomers looking for other things!
Because it shared orbit with the Earth it was speculated that Planet X might also harbour life, even intelligent life and so passed into Science Fiction as an alternative Earth. Planet X was given another name, out of the Greek Pantheon, but unfortunately I am unable to recall this at the moment.

The actual planet x or the fictional one?
There have been many movies, tv shows and books published that featured or might have been about a planet x, or is it planet X?
Any way, the actual planet X was recently renamed Xena when it's existence was confirmed. In fact when I think about it, its probably a term that defines a planet that hasn't yet been confirmed as a planet. In case you don't know, Xena was recently downgraded, like poor Pluto to dwarf planets. Aaaw, what a shame. She had a few months of pride and even discovered a moon called Gabrielle, but the the tore it away from her.... that planet status, not Gabrielle.... like candy from a baby!
I think Gabrielle is still classified as a moon... makes ye think...

it is apparently the tenth planet in our solar system with a very long ellipitical path. it comes into our galaxy once every so many thousand years. when it comes it will pass between the earth and the moon, completly f.ucking up the gravitational pull and the earth will come to a complete stop. as it passes on by the earth will begin to rotate again but the initial movement will generate massive tsunami all over the world. there will be total darkness for 3 days. this is all speculation by the way, but only certain places in the earth will be safe like the colorado basin. it was due to come on 15th may two or three years ago and i had the bags packed, toothbrush and all! but alas, it never came. alot of the sumerians believe that planet x was responsible for noahs flood if you can believe them.

There are also a buch of nutters out there who talk about Planet Nibiru, which is inhabited, and they have council representatives on Earth. All very hippy and alternative. Zecharia Sitchin gets mixed up in it somehow.
I've never been able to work out if it is some huge kind of student joke, or whether these people actually are deluded.
I think this may be what narkypoon is referring to.

Planet X was a hypothetical planet out beyond Pluto's orbit that was reckoned to exist to account for the movement of the outer planets.
Now they have lots of Pluto type "planets" out there to choose from for the name.

Planet X was the planet that Clive Tomby (i think that's the right spelling) discovered in 1930, the planet we have been calling Pluto.

Planet x was a mythical planet between earth and mars or between mars and Jupiter(which ever you believe). or
planet x was really was a planet between earth and mars or between Mars and Jupiter and for some reason was destroyed billions of years ago creating the asteroid belt, or our moon or both.
some people used believe what ever destroyed this planet also destroyed mars atmosphere
