Xplite completely uninstalled WMP from my PC. I tried to install it again and it won't work out at all. I won't insist. What other software can I use in order to watch WMV files?

VLC ( initially VideoLAN Client ) Media Player is a very good and very stable Media Player. It is pretty small in size, totally Free and easy to download from www.cnet.com. I use it to play DVDs in my Work PC :)

Which version of WMP did you uninstall? I don't know why your computer would refuse to reinstall it. Have you tried other versions of WMP. WMP 10 is available as well as WMP 11 beta. I would recommend WMP 10, it includes a number of security fixes found in earlier versions. WMP 11 beta has received rave reviews by a number computer/tech maganzines (e.g. PC World) but it is still in beta and has some bugs. Besides WMP, there are a number of other media players available, some are free and others are not. On the free side, I recommend VLC media player. It supports most video file extensions, including WMV. You can download it from:

While you are on their site, you might want to take a peek at PowerDVD and WinDVD, both are commercial products.

If you were having problems with WMP not playing the files and that's why you reinstalled it. The problem probably lay with WMP not recognizing the file extension. i would stay with WMP and win DVD. Always chek out options and settings with any progam in order to get the most out of it.
