Our Creator made our body with the ability to go into shock.
Which blocks out the first intense wave of pain.
I have heard of people who were beaten, and one shocked by
an electrical transformer, where their spirit was out of their body, and they watched themselves being hurt, but experienced no pain.
There is a story in the Apocrypha. Books taken out of the Bible, but still in the Catholic Bible I think. Where some sons were tortured by an evil man for their faith. It says that all of them
laughed in the evil mans face during the torture, because God
didn't let them feel any pain.
MAN, TO HAVE FAITH LIKE THAT!

If someone dies in their sleep, they don't feel the pain. Though your question makes me wonder if you are referring to suicide.
