Ethics - having to live with the choices we make everyday -

Darn good question! Glad you asked it!

1)Fear of God and punishment- 70%

2)Civic Responsibility- .001% (I turned in a woman at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for stealing 2.5 million dollars- instead of being a Hero for the Navy, I was fired on trumphed up charges- remember the old saying "No good deed goes unpunished?" its true)

3)Own codes of ethics

You give three very good reasons for doing right... but I would say the reason that I choose to do right, rather than wrong, is so that I can live with myself.

Life is a lot easier when you don't have a guilty conscience. You can sleep at night. It is also a lot easier when you don't have legal troubles. I prefer to live my life not having to look over my shoulder all the time -- for fear that someone I have pissed off will come after me. I make friends, not enemies.

When you keep it on the straight and narrow, you have a much easier life.

Purely for selfish reason, kiddo! Life gives back what you give it (Karma). And your own sense of character will grow and be more productive when you choose right over the easier wrong. Sure, it is not comfortable, but people are the higher animal and we can choose to bring Light into this World or compound the traditional thought of living for yourself (Hedanism).

Now..ask me what is the true meaning of a white lie!!!!!

All of the above. The fear of the Lord is to respect Him. Knowing that all God wants is for us to make life easier for oursleves. In this life, and the next.
If one breaks the Law in this world. It's not God that will come after him. It's man. And man has no mercy. He will lock you up
in prison for 100 years until your body and mind rots. And won't care.

3. Own code of ethics. I have to be able to live with myself, so I do right because I choose to do so.

That's a great question. When you do right(good) you get rewarded in some way. But maybe we do right to test our will because the right way isn't always the easy way.
