Depends what the bedroom is being lit for... A simple candle or a bunch of them...? A small nightstand lamp...? An ceiling fan with 4 bulbs that can change the number of lit bulbs...? A light dimmer switch...?

I like the lamps that hang from the ceiling. Like the chinese lamps with the lamp shade that goes all the way around it. It is paper. (chinese paper) The light it gives off is soft enough and yet bright enough for a small room. I got one from Target and you have to buy it in two piecs... the shade which is about $6 and the cord which is about $5. It is really nice.

i would go with a floor lamp. you can get them with either halogen bulbs or one that will take a regular bulb. i put one with a 3 way bulb in every bedroom in my apartment as there are no overhead lights. the lamps will give off a bright tight when you want it or a soft glow when you need less light.
you can get them for as low as 8 bucks at target or walmart, but it is probably better to spend about 30 bucks on a nice one that is adjustable.

DON'T GO SO MUCH FOR THE TYPE OF LAMP BUT GET THE RIGHT LIGHT BULB IN THE LAMP YOU ALREADY HAVE. I HAVE A 7 1/2 WATT IN MY LAMPS, IT'S GOOD FOR SEEING TO GET AROUND. IF YOU WANT TO READ THEN GET A BRIGHTER BULB. I LIKE TO USE COLORED BULBS FOR FUN. THE 7 1/2 I BUY HAS A ROUND SHAPE AND COMES IN COLORS. I GET MINE AT A HARDWARE STORE, CAN'T FIND THEM AT LOWES, ETC. FOR SOME REASON.
