My friend's husband abuses her and also married her know she was getting a disability check. I dont think she will be able to work when she leaves this relationship after 8 years of abuse. He told her there is no such thing as alimony in Texas. Is this true? She has gone to counseling in the past for being battered by him.

My daughter got alimony, but her husband was in the Navy.
She can file for compensation for injuries he gave her.
It is up to each judge really. Some have mercy & compassion & some don't.They will just tell her she should have left in the beginning!
