I would love to hear your reasons! I am thrilled about the in-all-likelihood Democrat takeover of Congress in November. I am wondering if people are as excited about the change as I am.

I too am anticipating a big turnover at least in Congress. The Republican controlled Congress has shown it neither has the balls nor the will to curb this President. With a democratic Congress, either Bush will have to start paying attention to us or he will get impeached. Either one is fine with me. Vote Democrat.

Hahahahaha.

Obviously, you haven't noticed the total meltdown of democratic politics this year. For example, the dems have raised far less money this year than their republican counterparts. This will have a dramatic effect on the ability of democratic candidates to compete in the upcoming election. Likely, for this reason alone, the dems will lose ground this year, not gain. But there are two other major problems.

The first is immigration reform. Democrats have TERRIBLE records with regard to immigration. Something like 90% of americans want illegals stopped cold, even deported while securing our borders. This issue has strong bipartisan support. So much so that most people, when polled, say they are likely to vote based on this one issue along. Which means the swing vote, by default, goes to republicans. Not such a big deal in the senate where most people have bad records on immigration. But, in the house, boy howdy. In general, house democrats are terrible on this issue while house republicans are good. I expect that the dems will lose BIG in the house based on this issue.

But, the worst problem the dems have is their radicalization. Anyone will tell you that the moderates rule this country. If you want to win an election, outside a few tiny bastions of liberalism, you need to be a moderate. But, the dems have moved so far left that they wage a jihad against someone like Lieberman. Don't think that doesn't go unnoticed by the majority of people who vote democrat who are moderates. Not to mention the swing voters who are also moderates. Since the dems no longer support the moderates, why should they vote for them? They won't. I think the perception of most normal people, democrat, republican or swing voter is that the dems have gone totally crazy. This galvanizes the republican base to keep those wackos out while demoralizing the democratic base that wonders why they should bother showing up on election day. It pushes the majority of swing voters toward the republicans.

Overall, I'd say the dems are f ucked this year and in for quite a shock after the elections. If they don't change their ways, they will likely lose big in 2008 as well.

I’ve been a Republican forever. I voted for Bush in 2000, but not in 04. I have always thought the GOP was associated with less government control, less taxes and more freedom. The way I feel now, I will never vote for another republican. It’s not just abortion. It’s global warming, stem cell research, the budget, the war. Just about everything that Bush has touched has turned out to be the opposite of what I thought the GOP was about. Either the GOP has gone terribly wrong or I must be a Democrat.

I voted Republican in 2004 and am voting Republican in 2006 and 2008 and so forth. When the Democrats put forth some policies that I think will work and are beneficial for this country, I'll consider voting for them. So far, all they have done is point fingers, make false accusations, and run a generally negative political party. Oh, for the good old days when the Democratic party was a mixture of ideals and beliefs and would have sane debates and rational ideas!

I have been a republican since I voted for Jimmy Carter. I am, in all likelihood, voting democrat this time. The neocons have taken my vote for granted, ignored true conservative wishes and are moving us to a police state. I do not expect the dems to be any different but I would like to see a shake up in Washington DC mindsets. And that is probably an oxymoron.

Instead of voting Democrat they should vote Libertarian so we can really change things. Democrat's want control of your wallet while Republicans want control of your bedroom lets get a party in office that does not want to control either.
