Revolution is always "brewing" in every country. Thats why the "Red Scare" was actually scary, man nations had been overthrown from within.

There is a difference between hotheads, or dissatisfaction, and a successful, beneficial coup. Remember that the US made Iran first by allowing the theocratic overthrow of the Shah. They and we know it. They are going to resist being overthrown in the same way they overthrew.

There are a billion chinese tired of their communist rulers. That is overcome with tanks, torture, and "brute-squads". Dictators who last find ways to overcome being overcome, even when they want to see the entire world burn.

The US bought the peace between Israel and "Palestine". We bribed the crap out of both sides. We dont have enough money to bribe Iran. They are being put on the path they are on by powers outside of themself. They can no more change their direction than the US can. Russia is assisting with the Iranian program, and is attempting to use them like the US used Israel to gain a global advantage in the "cold" war. There were no teeth in the UN in Iraq because Germany, and France, and Kofi were taking astronomical bribes to break the rules they agreed to. The same thing is happening in Iran. A nuclear Iran radically changes the balance of power in the mideast, and Russia has been and is helping them to that end.

To get a coup, you gotta beat Iranian intelligence, AND Russian intelligence. Glasnost or Perestroika arent going to work. Overthrow from within isnt going to work.. so what would?

I dont see a violent internal overthrow happening, in my relatively uninformed opinion.

I think the one thing that Iran is afraid of isnt the US military, its a stronger, unified Iraq. That might be able to work things in the general populus that nothing else could. They are so scared that they are scared to even show it. They are actively participating in the "war" in Iraq, not the war on terror, but in the civil wars, because a unified, highly productive Iraq with ties to the great nations in the west could radically change the attitudes of its people.

They know, we know, they know we know, and we know they know we know. Everybody knows.

The ball is in the hands of Iraqi citizens. We will see how well they pick up the ball and run with it. If they do well, then Iran might actually be defeated before it ever joins in battle. That would be an interesting coup.

There is and always has been an underground movement in Iran, but it is minimal, and not large enough to start a revolution. Since the Shah of Iran's country fell to Islamic extremist, most of the pro-Shah supporters got out of Iran. These are the thousands of Persians that live in America and Europe. If you can remember in 1979, Ross Perot got his own IBM workers out of Iran before the outsetting of the Shah, he could not of done it without Iranians helping him. We do have informants in Iran, but please remember that for every 100 Iranians there are 10 secret police. Everything said is monitored, many people live under 24 hours surveillance. The son of the Shah of Iran lives in Virginia (of course by the Farm) and many of his fathers closest friends live in America. For years we promised that we would put them back into power...it has never happened.

I hope I answered some of your questions. In sum, here is a situation where we blew it. If President Carter would of supported the Shah, we would not be worrying about Iran right now, and we would have a strong ally in a place in the world we could use one.

The general population in Iran is moderate and does see eye to eye with the government. I don't know about a coup but a revolution by the population could very well happen all they need is a charismatic leader

They tried, but the clerics stopped them in 2005, and now they've got a Fuhrer who makes Ayatollah Khomeini look rational by comparison.

As long as the US continue to terrorize and threaten them, I just don't see it happening. There is no better way to solidify a people and make them forget their own dirty waters than to have a common enemy.
