I have experience with Linksys but don't know if they are the best. Plust I would like to have a little better coverage area than my old 802.11 b router offered...

11b is kinda wide for established industry, 11a is definitely out. Go pre-N if range expansion to about kilometer you really seek. 11g for upgrading network speed.

Slave more access point box to the main router is another way to expand coverage.
