Here are some. An (French nazalised a as in enfant) goolem. Bo-un (Nasalised er as in un the French word for "a"). Looseenyan.(an as above). Fokes de brohtay. Looz (for Lewes). Pwatoo. Pontyer. (On french nazalised o as in mon, my). In case you are not southern English, by er I mean a sound without an r at the end, such as is pronounced in American or Scottish.

Most of these names are of French origin - don't know how you say them in English. It may sound pretentious to talk about Paree, but try asking someone in northern France the way to Reams. Worst dilemma I've had is trying to figure out how the French pronounce those obviously German names in Alsace and Lorraine. My solution is to stay on the motorway.

the South Dowes town name is actually pronounced like the name Lewis (like Jerry!)
