I have to reboot the system because it seems to be frozen. The desktop will not come back up when I wiggle the mouse or press a button on the keyboard. What causes this to happen?

Your system is going into standby or hibernating and not recovering.

Right click on your desktop and select properties. Click on the screensaver tab and then click on the power button. Make adjustments here. You may want to change the timings for system standby or hibernate to a more reasonable time.

Another issue could be a problem with your screensave if you have one. try changing to one of the cheap windows screensavers and see if that fixes your problem

Are you able to press any keys? Does the Num Lock button light up? If it does, then it's either hibernating and you cant get back, or the monitor is just on power saving. If you can't get it out, simply turn the monitor off and on.

If num lock doesn't respond, then you probably have spyware of some sort. Ad Aware is a good spyware scanner: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
