drinking age does matter.
of course, if they want it - they will get it. that doesn't mean that society needs to make it easy for them to get. still takes a little work to get it if your underage...
and i think drinking age, voting age, driving age, moving out from mommy and daddy's age should all be 21. the most maturing occurs between the age of 18 and 21 and lets face it - most are twits until around age 21.
for those of you that are now whining over that statement. in 10 more years, you'll recognize how stupid you were 10 years ago. just wait... lol

I live in Canada and our legal drinking age, in most provinces, is 19.
I know there are places with higher and lower ages.
You are right. Anyone under age who really wants booze will get it.
But, that doesn't mean that the age is too high/low.
Personally, I think the drinking age should be 21 and the driving age should be atleast 18.
Will people still drink/drive (Hopefully NEVER together) at under these ages?. YES, but that will always be the case.
Raising the age to a higher level, WILL reduce death and accidents. But, the penalties for breaking the law would have to be increased dramatically.
Getting into the bar was ALWAYS more fun when I was underage and became "boring" when I could legally do so.

I agree with Annie. Am I strongly opposed to young people drinking. They don't drink responsibly, ensure a designated driver, and think they're cool. Drinking isn't to make you look cool. I didn't start drinking until I was 23 years old and when I did I was responsible and always had a driver. I don't want some drunk kid hitting me and my family and ruining my life. Is that fair?

Frankly I think the drinking age should be lowered to 18 becuase when you turn 18:
a) You become an adult which means you can pretty much make your own decisions and do what you want.
b) They let us vote but not drink?

This country needs to be more liberal. In Germany, 16 year olds can drink wine and champagne. Here the age is 21. I think it needs to be lowered because it won't be conisdered taboo. The US does have the highest rate of DUI's.

Just because they engage in an illegal activity doesn't mean that society must condone it.
With that logic, people are going to get hold of crack and meth too, and they're going to visit prostitutes whether it's legal or not. So let's just go ahead and legalize those while we're at it.
