If you stick the top of a carrot in water, the top will grow for awhile and then die.
You can plant carrots by planting carrot seeds.

I wouldn't. BUT prepare ground well(lotsa of humus/debris so soil has air pockets and deep so plant can breathe free of mud/water...
and water so those fine roots can start in soil and not be squashed when you plant...
I actually buy 2 lbs of carrots and plant most of them. They'll root and stay fresh for when I want them instaed of turning into rubber roots from squishyville in refrigerator hades!!

make a little trench in the ground with your finger, and put the seeds in, and cover, they are very small seeds, after you see them come up you can thin them out
